PREPARE
Arrive Early. This allows EVERYONE to be seated and comfortable on time. Leave sufficient time for parking. If you’re not familiar with Indio, CLICK HERE for driving directions to the theatre. Latecomers cannot be seated until there is a sufficient pause in the performance. If you are late, ushers are just doing their jobs if they ask you to wait. Late seating will be done at the discretion of the House Manager.
Please let us know about special access needs in advance. The best time to do this is at the time you make your ticket purchase. Unless all other seats are sold, seats are held aside for those with handicapped patrons and those with special needs.
PLEASE! Turn off your cell phones and other electronic devices! Ring tones are not the only problem. Ambient light and the motions from texting can distract other patrons as well as the performers. If you forget and your mobile device rings during the performance, turn it off. DO NOT ANSWER. You will have the opportunity to check for messages during the intermission. In addition, some cell phones can interfere with the wireless technology in use in the theatre. We’re pretty sure you don’t want your conversation with Aunt Gert to be broadcast over the theatre’s sound system!
Sit in the seats that you have purchased. That will make it easier for everyone else to find their seats. If your view is blocked by a person in front of you, please ask the usher for assistance before the performance begins.
Plan for your comfort ahead of time so as not to be a distraction to others. Have everything out or put away prior to the performance. Digging in your pockets, purse or bags can be just as distracting or even MORE distracting than talking or texting on your phone. If you think you’ll need them, bring your cough drops, lozenges, medications and have them at the ready. Access them during applause moments, or better yet, during intermission.
Visit the restroom prior to the performance. Restrooms are located on both sides of our Expo theatre. Unless there is an emergency, please plan to stay in your seat during the performance.
NO SMOKING. There is no smoking anywhere in the theatre or anywhere on the Desert TheatreWorks premises.

DURING PERFORMANCES
Feel free to have honest reactions to what is happening on stage. Laugh, applaud, and enjoy the performance. Your applause shows the actors you liked a well performed song, dance routine, or some other well-done
performance. And don’t be shy about
applauding at the end of an act or a curtain call! Please do not talk, whisper, sing or hum along during a performance. This is distracting to both the other show patrons and the actors on stage. Overtures ARE part of the performance! Items purchased at our snack bar may be taken into the theatre. Please be considerate of the other patrons and the theatre staff. Volunteers prepare our performance space, so please be considerate of them and dispose of whatever you brought into the theatre. Thank you for not littering.
Do not leave early. Even more than arriving late, this distracts patrons and the actors on stage because you’re already in the theatre. There is no picture taking or recording during the performance. We encourage you to “check-in” on social media prior to, at
intermission or after the performance, but due to licensing constraints we ask that you refrain from gathering content or sharing/ streaming during performances. If you need urgent assistance during the show, please seek out the nearest volunteer or usher. Please wait for the house lights to come up before leaving the theatre. Waiting is respectful to the performers who worked hard to entertain you all evening, and it’s safer as well.
